| "Beeliar" is the Aboriginal name for the southern metropolitan region. R M Lyon recorded the name in 1833, referring to it as "the district of Midjegoorong" (an Aboriginal leader). |

| Beeliar is a great little suburb around 20km south east of Fremantle. The area fronts onto the Thomson Lake Reserve in the south and is not surrounded by any other housing estates to the east or west. This some what concealed area is fantastic for families and friends with only a short walk to the large Thomson Lake and its many and varied walking trails. |
